Facebook Friends How Many do You Have & Why

Published: January 11th, 2010 Permalink

When I first tested out Facebook the friends I connected to were family members and friends I knew in real life. This offered me a chance to experiment with my comments and what I should, could, or would post on FB. I soon worked out why I was using Facebook and for me it was two-fold. I could keep in contact with all my personal friends and family, but I also wanted to connect with business people.

I wanted to grow my credibility and my exposure and gain more business contacts who  could get to  know me a little bit better and I them. By building these trusted relationships on FB we are able to get to know each other in a more relaxed atmosphere and, for me, there was no pressure of worrying about referrals. Some social networking sites tend to concentrate on gaining referrals and this is ok but too much stress for a lot of us. Referrals will come, naturally I have found.

  • I connected with business people in my local community who were on FB.
  • To showcase my business Motivational Steps I would offer tips on Motivation and quotes.
  • Connecting people to each other is a strength of mine so I soon caught on to who wanted to be connected to someone I knew and connect them.
  • My friends listed started to grow and I enjoyed catching up with my family, friends and business connections.

I decided to start a Motivational Steps Fan Page on Facebook and I will tell you why and how that worked out next time.

The APE Philosophy, For Everything Money Can’t Buy

I want to share with you all my simple secret of  how I achieved the level of success I now enjoy. You will read so many articles on how to make your dream a reality, take from them all  the pieces that work for you. One thing you may find though, is that a lot of the advice you are offered is somewhat complicated and seems to be more work than fun. Now I am not suggesting I did not have to work hard to get to where I am today, but we can help ourselves when working towards our goals by enjoying fun and motivational strategies that offer us the chance to reach our goals, step by step.

  1. Step 1 – Be AWARE

Be aware of your objectives. Know your short and long term goals. Write them down so you are aware of them every day, look at them to remind yourself where you are going and why.

Be aware of your target market. Know who you are marketing yourself to and who you want to sell your products or services to. Market research is essential in the early days and you should continue to research your market at least annually to ensure you are in touch with any changes or industry news that may apply to your business.

Be aware of who you are and how others perceive you. Know yourself in order to know others. When you are networking, online or face to face know that you do have excellent listening skills, if you are not sure look for a self awareness course you can complete on line.

Be aware of where you should network, why, how and what your intended outcome is. Know that networking is an ongoing and integral step in the continued success of your business.

Be  aware that you should be proactive and look for mentors, strategic alliances, network connections that benefit you. Know as much as possible about your connections which will enable you to establish a strong relationship of trust and offer you the chance to help them.

Be aware and always be YOU, be authentic and do not pretend to be someone you are not.

AWARENESS

I have shared with you one of the secrets of my success, Awareness is very much part of my Philosophy. It works for me and it will work for you.
